Given Xbox’s recent track record with AAA releases, gamers have been concerned with how Avowed will turn out. Fans are now even more worried about how the RPG will hold out against other AAA titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Monster Hunter Wilds after Obsidian delayed it to release in the middle of a crowded month.
However, the developers of the Skyrim-like RPG do not share these worries at all. A new report claims that Obsidian is extremely confident in Avowed’s launch date, openly challenging other games coming out in the same period.
Why it matters: The director’s confident attitude about the RPG’s release window has assured gamers. Obsidian appears to be unfazed, suggesting that fans are in for a treat.
While speaking to GamesRadar+, Carrie Patel said that finding a month where nothing significant is releasing is impossible—especially in the modern era where you always have ‘great stuff coming out.’ Regardless, Obsidian is convinced that Avowed will not be outshined by any other major releases.

The Avowed lead further mentions that the delay gave them the perfect time to fix the remaining bugs. So, those seeking an Obsidian-style RPG will get to enjoy exactly what they’re looking for.
Avowed is set to launch on February 18, 2025, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Some rumors do suggest that a PlayStation 5 launch might follow suit, but no official confirmations have been made so far.
