Why I Want OG Fortnite Chapter 2 To Return In The Next Update

It's time Fortnite brings back what the fans what...

Story Highlights
  • Fortnite brought back OG Chapter 1, which saw immense success in breaking the peak concurrent players record.
  • People tune in because of the nostalgia the old Chapter evoked. It includes the iconic map and weapons that players enjoy.
  • If not for nostalgia, players want it because they dislike the current updates. They want to experience OG Fortnite and its current mechanics.

It’s been four years since Fortnite added Chapter 2, Season 1. While Epic Games did release the OG Chapter 1 season 1 before, I’m eagerly waiting for its Chapter 2 to be officially released by the next update. Here’s why.

Return Of OG Fortnite Chapter 1

Rampant Success

Fortnite saw rampant success when it reintroduced the OG chapter 1, season 1. The hype already grew after Fortnite announced it was going to bring back the OG chapter.

Its success is phenomenal because it broke its all-time high player count record by achieving over 11.6M concurrent players on the day of its release. Not only that, but Fortnite’s Twitch viewership also peaked at 3.2M peak viewers, with 1.9M on average.

This success could be replicated for the next chapter if Fortnite brings it back. This can turn into a chain where Fortnite would release each of its older chapters after a few months to bring back the player base.

Chapter 2’s Charm

Nostalgia

While Call Of Duty is bashed for relying on nostalgia, Fortnite is cherished for it. Admittedly, most players return to play the older chapters solely out of nostalgia. They missed the simpler times when they started playing Fortnite when the concept was new.

Players thoroughly enjoyed the simpler weapons, the innovative buildings, and the creative lore of the game. Now, the lore has already been explored, so they play for the map and the weapons.

Not Liking The Current Updates

The latest Mad Max collaboration, along with the Zues update, has cluttered the map. It looks and feels unnecessarily dense, and the new weapons don’t seem to be as much fun as they used to.

Due to this dislike of the map, many people have switched to Fortnite Reload instead of the original battle royale mode because it features the Fortnite OG Map and is fast-paced. As you can see, the gap between the concurrent players of both modes is very close.

Newer Battle Pass

Epic Games showcased a newer battle pass for the return of the OG Fortnite Chapter 1, which infused the older skins with a modern touch. This was like a breath of fresh air since all the battle passes after didn’t live up to their level.

Classic Locations

Chapter 2 introduced us to iconic locations such as Misty Meadows, Lazy Lake, and Frenzy Farm. Even though this map doesn’t include Tilted Towers or any of its variations, going to Slurpy Swamp or Sweaty Sand was the go-to option for players.

The last zone at Weeping Woods and Steamy Stacks also opened gates for intense and one of the best gameplays. The relocation of Retail Row, Salty Springs, and Pleasant Park also created a familiar yet different experience.

New Mechanics

Fishing was also introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2 and became an iconic part of the game. It would be great if they added additional quests for fishing, as it was essential back in the day.

Back then, the vaulting and parkour mechanics weren’t present, so having more fluid physics while experiencing the old map and weapons would aid the players.

Weapons & Transportation

Speaking of weapons, this chapter also featured most of the weapons that the OG Chapter 1 had. This means you’ll find bolt-action snipers, pump shotguns, and pistols. Some new items, including burst AR, rocket launcher, and epic pistols, have been added back.

Bandage Bazooka and chug jug were added to this chapter, making it one of the chapters that focus much on restoring players’ health. Turrets were also added, and it’d be fun to use them since it’s been a long time since we’ve last used them.

Boats were also added to this chapter, which came in handy because the map’s layout complimented it. Almost every location has a thin river stream that goes through it and connects to another location.

This would be refreshing after the current update, where the map has been turned into a desert, resembling a Rally track.

Fortnite’s Real Plan?

It is reported that Fortnite has planned to return the OG Chapter 2 by the end of this year. It’s only a matter of time to know if this is true or not, but I believe Fortnite’s plan holds value.
