During Gamescom 2017 last Sunday, Microsoft announced that they have placed the Xbox One X “Project Scorpio Edition” up for pre-orders on various digital formats and the retailers but it seems that the production of limited edition console was too little to handle the consumer demand.

Lately, Microsoft has confirmed that they have witnessed a record setting pre-orders of the new Xbox One X from many countries across the world and it is officially the fastest selling console pre-order ever for a Xbox console till date.

A couple of hours ago, we heard GameStop reporting a huge demand for the limited edition console among gaming community and now Microsoft reporting the same fact. It must be noted that it is not a next generation console and is a part of the Xbox One family with some major upgrades to handle the new games at 4K resolution.

Despite the fact, it has been sold pretty quickly within a few days (5 days starting from Sunday). According to Microsoft’s Marketing VP Mike Nichols, the console has been sold out in many parts of the world already.

“Within just a few days, we saw record-setting sell-out times and are currently sold out in many countries around the world. You, our biggest fans, have pre-ordered more Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition consoles in the first five days than any Xbox ever.”

As confirmed previously, the Project Scorpio Edition console was a limited edition one with different design and the controller, accompanying a vertical stand as well, just like the Day One edition of Xbox One console back in Summer of 2013 with some features and achievements.

So the studio doesn’t plans to produce more of these limited edition and instead, they will be taking pre-orders for the standard Xbox One X console starting next month which will come with a price tag of $500 / £449.
