Soon after the reports came out regarding the release of a new “PlayStation 4.5”, compatible for playing current generation console games on 4K resolution, we heard that Microsoft is also preparing for a “Xbox One and a Half (Xbox 1.5)” for more improved gaming performance.

Well, the part of a new 4K PlayStation remained true as per the reports, but recently, the Xbox head Phil Spencer denied the rumors regarding a new Xbox One and aHalf. While asked about Xbox One upgrades during his recent interview with the Game Informer, Xbox One head said,

“I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers. I don’t know anything about any of the rumors that are out there, but I can understand other teams’ motivations to do that. For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people — an upgrade.”

Seems that the company isn’t really in a mood for some new upgrades on their hardware. Maybe sometime they will work for a new upgraded device but only when it would be needed, as according to Spencer, “…our box is doing well”.

While according to the reports, Sony is working on a new 4K capable and PS VR suitable PlayStation console, which is called as PlayStation 4.5 as of now, with more upgraded CPU and a GPU. 4K is four times more if compared with the PS 4 native 1080p.
