Microsoft announced Xbox Live Cross Platform play and Xbox Play Anywhere features for the gamers of Xbox One and Windows 10 so they can play against each other and from either platform with the shared game progress and achievements.

Windows 10 Gamers Can Play Cross Platform Games for Free – Microsoft

According to the GamingBolt, Head of Xbox Games and Marketing, Aaron Greenberg during his recent interview regarding the cross-platform play between PC and Xbox has confirmed that Xbox Live Cross platform will be free for the Windows 10 gamers while the Xbox One gamers will have to pay for the subscription. He said;

If you are on a Windows 10 PC, and log into your Xbox Live account, you can play multiplayer games and take advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere [without any extra charge]. You can do Cross-Play with games like Gears of War 4 [with no extra charge].

Players who buy cross-buy games for any one platform will be getting a free copy for another platform and will be playable using one Xbox Live account. Windows 10 will be getting support for Xbox Play Anywhere feature after the Windows 10 Anniversary Update which will be released on August 2nd.
