Ubisoft used the announcement of its latest financial results to confirm that Watch Dogs will receive a sequel over 2017. Next to it, we will see the launch of a new title in South Park after the unexpected success of South Park: The Stick of Truth. Both new titles will be joined by the expected For Honor and Tom Clancy’s novel, the Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Watch Dogs 2 confirmed for 2017 with a new South Park

In 2016-17 the Company expects to achieve sales of around €1,700 million, non-IFRS operating

income of approximately €230 million and strong free cash flow generation. Ubisoft will launch a

very high-quality line-up, including For Honor®, South Park™ the Fractured but Whole™, Tom

Clancy’s Ghost Recon® WildLands, the next instalment of Watchdogs®, and a new high-potential

AAA brand with strong digital live services.

Thanks to the mods and a few months after its launch, Watch Dogs managed to be almost equal to that observed in the gameplay videos of the E3 2012, but still the gameplay, the sparse character and structure of missions were not enough to touch the standard overall quality of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5. We’ll see if Ubisoft has learned its lesson with Watch Dogs 2.

Watch Dogs 2 will bring a new open world to explore and scares see the first videos of the game knowing the background. This year we will not see a new Assassin’s Creed, and the announcement of a new title that promises to make a lot of noise. Watch Dogs 2, if care is taken, could be a unique experience. It certainly sounded like a good premise. It just failed to execute is all.
