inXile Entertainment is planning to start working on its new project, the Wasteland 3. It will be the sequel of the successful Wasteland 2, developed by the same studio.
Yesterday during the official announcement of the Wasteland 3, the developers confirmed that they will be launching a Kickstarter campaign on Fig, with $2.75 million as the financial goal. According to the studio, the campaign will be launching online from next Wednesday, October 5th.
Wasteland 3 is an upcoming role playing game featuring strategic combat, vehicles, graphical enhancement, fluid action system and ‘turn-based combat and unique encounter design‘ inspired by the Wasteland 2. The game is set on a frozen Colorado, having environmental dangers which affects the player’s choices while playing the game, that will require some sacrifices as well.
According to the developers, the game will have “a deep and engaging story utilizing a newly-revamped dialog tree system from the celebrated writers of Torment: Tides of Numenera. Your Ranger Base is a core part of the experience. As you help the local people and improve your Ranger Base, quests and narrative will force you to make decisions on how to lead.”
Head of inXile Entertainment, Brian Fargo some portion of the profit earned from the Wasteland 2 will be contributed to the new project, whereas they will be looking for a publishing partner and ask him to contribute some amount as well. More details, including a gameplay trailer will be released sometime later when the game development takes progress. Stay tuned for more updates!
