As we reported earlier regarding this year’s Steam Summer Sales by Valve, which has been kicked off yesterday, and just like previous years, the famous gaming store is offering discounts of up to 50 percent of the most popular games.

Valve Explains Why CS: GO is not Available to Buy and Gift During Summer Sales

Soon after the sale kicked off, players reported that they were unable to buy the popular Counter Strike: Global Offensive, which was being offered with 50 % off and send the game as a gift on Steam just like the rest of the other games.

Meanwhile Valve’s representative Ido Magal on reddit forums has issued a statement confirming that the feature has been turned off for CS: GO throughout the sales period, which will be ending earlier next month. He said;

CS:GO will not be giftable during the sale. Our goal with sales is to grow the community and historically, during sales, the new users that stick around are mainly the ones that purchase copies for themselves,

It seems that the Store is trying to avoid digital reselling of the games by some of the online retailers who purchase the game in bulk during sales period and later on, resale it at prices lower than what the Steam is offering. Valve’s Summer Sales is running as of now with a decent amount of drop in the price of many games and will be ending on July 4th, 2016 at 10 AM PDT.
