It’s not a new news that the division VAIO is no longer belongs to Sony. It is Sold to Investment Group Japan Industrial Partners Inc. about a year ago, up to now, the brand had not submitted any new product, except for VAIO and VAIO Fit Pro. To renew the range of the company the two new VAIO Z and VAIO Canvas are here, the first convertible Ultrabook similar to Yoga Lenovo, the second one is a tablet hybrid with a separate keyboard and integrated stand concept similar to Microsoft Surface.

Starting from the VAIO Z that will be available in two versions, both with a multitouch display 13.3 “and WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), the first, the more powerful, with i7-5557U (2C / 4T @ 3.1 GHz with Turbo up to 3,4GHz, Iris Graphics 6100, 4 MB of L3 cache and TDP equal to 28W) and 16 GB of RAM, the second one bears i5-5257U (2C / 4T @ 2.7 GHz with Turbo up to 3, 1GHz, Iris Graphics 6100, 4 MB of L3 cache and TDP equal to 28W) and 8 GB of RAM.

In common, it will have a special hinge (attached to the sides and not at the base as in the Lenovo Yoga 3) which will allow the screen to rotate 360 ​​°, a SSD M.2 available in capacities of 128, 256 or 512 GB, 2 USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI jack combo microphone / headphone, an SD card reader, dual cameras (one rear 8 megapixel) and Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. All packed in a compact aluminum body and carbon fiber from a size of 324.2 x 215.3 x 15-16.8 mm and weighing 1.34 Kg. The battery life is remarkable, which can sustain a 15.5 hours.

The second variant i.e. VAIO Canvas, however, as we have already mentioned, it is a 2-in-1 hybrid and is equipped with a multi touch display 12.1 “with a resolution equal to 2560 × 1704 pixels (3: 2) with color color accuracy of 95% Adobe RGB. It has a stand at the back of the display and a very thing physical keyboard which can be separated from the tablet. Here to you will find an i7 CPU-based on Broadwell with Iris Graphics GPU, 16GB of RAM, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI and a mini-Display Port and ability to reach up to 1 TB of disk capacity, do not forget an active stylus is there too.

It will be available for purchase in the second half of the year (with the possibility of pre-order in progress), both models will have a price tag of approximately $ 1,600.
