Ubisoft has announced that their development team is working with Massive Entertainment (the developer to give life to The Division) to create a new game based on the movie Avatar of James Cameron. To bring such a project to fruition, the company has also partnered with Lightstorm, Fox and the film’s own director.
Ubisoft Is Working On Avatar Game
Unfortunately, we don’t have details on this Avatar Game project, but apparently the agreement has closed after Massive showed an early prototype of the game created under his Snowdrop engine, which is the same used in The Division. The Snowdrop engine focuses on dynamic global illumination, environmental destruction and highly detailed visual effects. Ubisoft developers say they are in awe of the game and it’s a “fantastic and humbling experience” to create a game based on the film.
“James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment changed the way we think about immersive storytelling with the first Avatar, and the ambition that they have for the forthcoming films and this game is really inspiring,” said David Polfeldt, managing director, Massive, in a statement.
“It’s a privilege to work with them and we’re honored that they’ve entrusted us to create an experience worthy of the Avatar name.”
We remind you that there are now more than three Avatar films are under development. Avatar 2 will be released in theaters in late 2018.
