Good news for fans of the white wolf, or at least for the happy owners of a Core i7 and GTX 980. It is known that The Witcher 3 promises to set a new standard as far as graphics are concerned, and now it seems like we don’t have to publish one more post with the title “many PC users fear for game performance on their system”.
The Witcher 3 runs at 60FPS on Ultra details with a Core i7 4790 and GTX 980
While the outcome of the trilogy of Geralt of Rivia will not support DirectX 12 or option to modify the draw distance, the German site Gamestar said that, they have tested the latest version of Witcher 3 without any graphical restriction, and including the effects of NVIDIA Hairworks, the game keeps 60fps in most cases @1080p.
A Core i7 4790 (which boost reaches 4.0GHz), 16GB of RAM and a GTX 980, not exactly a cheap mix, but seems to be the optimal setting to enjoy one of the games of the year candidate smoothly. Still, if everything goes full 60fps are likely to be better optimized than many thought.
In January of this year, Gamestar team had tested the game with the same PC, reaching barely 30fps with Ultra details. It is seen that the development team has made great strides in terms of optimization. The common people probably read the word “downgrade” between the lines, but stay positive and to trust the Polish company, who stated on several occasions its commitment that no graphical reductions in the PC version.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will come to PC and next-Gen consoles on May 19.
