The Last Guardian, a PlayStation exclusive game was under development for about 8 to 9 years by Team ICO and Gen Design. During E3 2016, the developers finally announced the release date and a reveal trailer of the game.

The Last Guardian was previously set for release on October 25th, 2016, but unfortunately today, President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida on the PlayStation Blogs announced that the game has been delayed for another couple of weeks. According to Yoshida, the reason for the delay were the bugs that were encountered by the studio during the final stages of development.

He says that the studio wants to provide a greater experience, that meets up to the expectations of the players.

The Last Guardian development team is fast-approaching major milestones in production and has made the tough decision to delay the release of The Last Guardian by a few weeks.

Fumito Ueda, gen DESIGN and JAPAN Studio have a wonderful vision for The Last Guardian’s touching, emotional journey of friendship and trust, and we want to deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait some weeks more until they finally grab the game. The Last Guardian is now confirmed for release on December 6 in the US, December 7 in Europe, and December 9 in the UK and Ireland as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Earlier, the game was under development for PlayStation 3. After a while, the developers decided to port the game for PlayStation 4 instead. Designer Fumito Ueda said that Last Guardian for PlayStation 3 would have been ‘compromised’ and wouldn’t deliver the experience he ‘envisioned’. Stay tuned for more updates!
