Take-Two Interactive, Publisher of famous franchise(s) such as GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne and owner of developers such as Rockstar Games, Firaxis Games, and 2K Games recently hinted that they are having more IPs at the moment than they can even deal with.

Take-Two Interactive Talks About New Games, No Plan For ‘Milking’ Famous Franchises

Therefore, they are not in any mood to keep running the cycle of annual release of their famous franchises. Moreover, they are also working on new IPs, which will be coming in future.

President of Take-Two Interactive, Karl Slatoff during his presentation in New York earlier this week, where he talked about their plan of new IPs as well as also mentioned company’s efforts while maintaining relationships with investors.

“yes, it is a challenge.” said Slatoff of Take-Two Interactive while talking about maintaining relationship with their investors. He said,

“The market asks us, ‘Why don’t you annualise your titles?’ We think with the non-sports titles, we are better served to create anticipation and demand. On the one hand to rest the title and on the other hand to have the highest quality in the market, which takes time. You can’t do that annually.”

He also said that according to him, sustainability of their famous franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption is more important for their company and they don’t want to ruin it by pumping cash in and releasing new addition on annual basis.

“It’s tempting to have continuous releases and milk a franchise as far as you can, we’ve seen that fatigue in other franchises in the games industry. With almost every single franchise for us, the latest release is bigger than the one before.”

Moreover, he also talked about their current projects on new IPs and its release. He said,

“Our IP situation, right now–it’s better than it’s ever been in the company’s history. We’ve got a lot of IP. We’ve got more IP than we can even deal with at this point in time and we’re always looking at generating new IP. So that is a very different circumstance than we were in back right before the Xbox 360 and PS3 launched.”

It seems that the company wants to keep running their new and famous projects smoothly, irrespective of any scheduled release. Their last addition to the famous franchise, Grand Theft Auto V made record breaking business throughout the world, and GTA Online is still resulting in generating revenue.
