State of Decay was one of the last games to be released for the Xbox 360 and PC via Steam. Taking advantage of E3 2017, Undead Labs announced that State of Decay 2 will launch in the fall of the southern hemisphere of 2018, with support for 4K graphics, and along with this announcement they also showcased 4K trailer.

State of Decay 2 will be exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10

State of Decay 2 immerses players into a completely new zombie survival fantasy for multiplayer. They work together to develop enduring communities where the choices made from an interconnected world and a unique experience at each moment.

Here’s how the developers describe the set-up:

18 months after the zombie apocalypse, the military abandons a refugee camp in small-town America. Those left behind must band together to survive the fall of civilization and the rise of the undead. In State of Decay 2, it’s up to you to gather survivors, build a community, and redefine what it means to survive.

State of the Decay 2 will be available on PC and Xbox One family worldwide as Xbox Play Anywhere title in the fall of 2018 (cross-buy and cross-play between Windows 10 and Xbox One). Below you can see new screenshots:
