When Square Enix announced that the Final Fantasy VII remake would be exclusive to PlayStation 4 for a year, at that time the official release date was until March 3, 2021. Shortly thereafter, the publisher announced that the development team needed more time to polish technical details of the game, so that the game was delayed to April 10, 2020.

While it was logical to assume that the exclusivity with Sony would be one year, Square Enix updated the cover of the PlayStation 4 version of the game so that there is no confusion about when the game will be released for other platforms, which will surely be PC and Xbox One.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is a re-imagination of the original iconic game that redefined the RPG genre, going deeper into the world and the characters. The first game in this project takes place in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a complete experience by itself which provides an excellent access point to the series. Together with a cast of unforgettable characters and a powerful story, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE presents a hybrid battle system that unites real-time action with strategic command-based combat.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be available on PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020 and will reach other platforms in 2021, as it has a year of exclusivity with Sony.
