Thanks to the financial report pertaining to the fiscal second quarter of this year, Sony has released the most important data of all, the number of PlayStation 4 consoles sold around the world. Unfortunately, the company still does not break down the data, only giving the unified sales of the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro instead of giving a separate data.

Sony has managed to distribute a total of approximately 4.2 million consoles from July 1 to September 31, bringing the number of PlayStation 4 distributed to 67.5 million devices. With these figures, the Japanese company has decided to raise its forecasts for the current fiscal year from 18 million units to 19 million units of the PlayStation 4 distributed, a value that, if it were to be fulfilled, would mean that Sony would have managed to sell approximately 79 millions of consoles.

On the other hand, as far as the video game division is concerned, Sony has managed to increase its revenues by 35.4 percent compared to the same period last year, which translates into some 3,300 million euros. Finally, in terms of global revenues, the Japanese firm has experienced an increase of 22.1 percent, or about 15,600 million euros. All this is due to the impact of the change with respect to foreign currencies along with the increase in sales of the PlayStation 4.

Also, you may recall that Sony recently revealed that it has sold over 1 million PlayStation VR kits, which makes it one of the most popular VR platforms on earth too.
