Seagate presents a 2.5-inch HDD with a capacity of 2 TB

Increased capacity is a result of new technology SMR (shingled Magnetic Recording), where individual paths overlap, and take up less space on the plate – a solution that allows you to increase data compression, but refraining affects the performance of the media.

Seagate drives come in three versions – standard, with the option of encryption and certified FIPS 140-2. Still no words on its prices.

It is worth mentioning that in the case of 3.5-inch HDDs record capacity is 10 TB – we are talking about Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD.
