Capcom, Oculus Studios and Armature Studio today announced that the variant for Virtual Reality (exclusive only to Oculust Quest 2) of Resident Evil 4 will be released on October 21, and they celebrate it with a new batch of images and gameplay trailer.

Like other VR titles, Resident Evil 4 VR will allow room-scale movement and teleportation, so you can explore the environment as you wish. With many comfort options at your disposal, you can also play comfortably while sitting down.

However, one of the biggest changes in Resident Evil 4 VR is how the elements are managed. Now you can take weapons and items directly from your virtual body, either to reach belt in search of a weapon or to remove a health item from left shoulder. You can also switch weapons by removing them from the body instead of going to a menu, and you can use separate weapons in each hand.

Entire puzzles and other objects, such as the typewriter that character uses to save, have been recreated in virtual reality so that they are also fully interactive. Touch controllers will allow you to interact with the world in a fundamentally new way than how it is played on PC or consoles. Weapons and items have been redesigned as physical items that you can collect and interact with.

The Armature studio is using core elements from the original Resident Evil 4 to improve the game and its mechanics, but they have remastered the art: more than 4,500 textures have been redesigned or their resolution increased. Character animations have been faithfully converted to Unreal Engine 4 and remain intact from the original source material, and all scenes will be presented in their original format.

You’ll still be moving in the first person using the analog joystick, but Armature has added a full upper body platform on top of Leon’s character to combine his movement with the two-handed interactivity achieved with touch controllers.

“Explore the iconic world of Resident Evil 4 in this all-new version, made entirely for virtual reality. Take on the role of Special Agent Leon S. Kennedy on his mission to rescue the daughter of the President of the United States who has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult. Fight your way through a rural town in Europe, go head-to-head with challenging enemies, and discover secrets and gameplay that have revolutionized the entire survival horror genre. Fight hideous creatures infected by the Las Plagas parasite and face aggressive enemies, including mind-controlled villagers, and discover their connection to The Illuminati, the cult behind the kidnapping. “
