While celebrating 25th anniversary of Sonic at Comic-Con event, currently being held in San Diego, SEGA has announced a new game titled as Project Sonic for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo NX and Xbox One. The company also announced Sonic Mania, a new game which is designed in 2D style of gaming set for release in Spring 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

According to the head of Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka, the game was designed for the fans’ love and the team is expecting that the fans may get surprised and delighted while playing the game.

Sonic Mania was born out of our fans’ love of the classic Sonic 2D platform games. This type of collaboration is a first for SEGA and we hope everyone will be both surprised and delighted by this title. Sonic Mania has been a passion project for the entire team and we look forward to sharing more details about it later this year.”

While second game is referred as Project Sonic is scheduled for release sometime during holidays 2017. The teaser of “Project Sonic” indicates that the game will have two versions of Sonic: a Sonic that looks similar to the original character and the other one, a shorter and modern incarnation.
