Red Barrels is currently working on the Outlast 2, a sequel of the famous horror, survival game Outlast. The game is scheduled for release during early 2017.
Outlast 2 Support for PS4 Pro Announced, Enhancements Detailed
Earlier this month, the developers surprised the Outlast fans all over the world by releasing the demo for Outlast 2 unexpectedly. The demo is now available for download across the top three platforms, and will be removed by Tuesday November 1st. However, the demo will still be playable for those who downloaded the demo before the due date.
A couple of days ago, developers at Red Barrels announced that the Outlast 2 will not be supported with the PlayStation VR. However, the game will be getting an enhanced version for the upcoming PS4 Pro. Red Barrels President, Philippe Morin while speaking with the PlayStation LifeStyle confirmed that the game will be taking advantages of the upgraded hardware of PS4 Pro and also listed the enhancements such as higher textures, filtering and much more which will be offered for the PS4 Pro audience. Here’s what he said during his interview;
“It will have higher shadow quality, higher quality texture filtering and more detailed meshes. That’s what we have so far, but we’re still working on some improvements.”
It’s a positive sign that most of the game developers have shown their support for the PS4 Pro by releasing the upgraded and enhanced version of the game. However, it remains unclear whether the game will run at a native 4K resolution or not. According to the executives of Microsoft Xbox, Sony’s PS4 Pro is not capable of delivering true game performance at 4K output. Let’s see how things go with the release of Sony’s 4K console next month.
According to the Red Barrels studio, Outlast 2 features new environments, characters and settings, which will be detailed in the coming months. The game is set in the Arizona, and there will not be any asylums, like the previous game. Outlast 2 is planned for release sometime in 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Stay tuned for more updates!
