Because of TSMC’s 16nm FinFET process to be delayed until the third quarter, Apple and Qualcomm give their right hand to Samsung and GlobalFoundries’s 14nm FinFET, but 10-year old partner of TSMC is still having a faith in TSMC. “TSMC remains our partner, we have confidence in them”.

According Kitguru reports, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang at a recent conference with investors on issues specifically related to the above response, said that although they often consider other foundries, but TSMC in the foreseeable future is still in their very important partner.

NVIDIA has not mentioned in the meeting details of their next-generation chips, but also to TSMC hit a shot in the arm, said they use TSMC 16nm FinFET technology, the test chip meets their standards.

In addition, Huang also said that TSMC’s process is very powerful, they produce future 16nm FinFET technology to have enough confidence. NVIDIA had expected the first use of this process is a Pascal chip GPU and it will be officially listed until next year.

He also mentioned a problem in the original report that NVIDIA did not confirm or deny rumors they choose Samsung, the relationship between them is still very ambiguous.

We believe that the discrete graphics market share shrinking, NVIDIA really need consider seeking cooperation with Samsung and GF who are giving powerful process in cheaper price.
