On 19th September Nvidia will release its Maxwell Second Generation architecture beast from GTX 900 Series. Now the latest news is that Performance review of both Maxwell based Gtx 980 and Gtx 970 has been leaked. Those benchmarks are leaked on Expreview, however now they have removed that post, but we are able to fetch some detail and Screenshots to show you. In this post we will see the improved performance level of Nvidia’s Second Generation Maxwell compared to previous Kepler GK110 and Hawaii from AMD also.
Nvidia GTX 980 and 970 Performance benchmarks Leaked
Before we move to our main topic lets recap the previous leaked specifications of both bad boys. Gtx 980 and Gtx 970 both will feature the GM204 Core, according to the latest news the GTX 970 is all clear to go on 19th September, but there’s some problem came up with the GTX 980 and it might get delayed as well. Till now we see that both Gtx 980 and Gtx 970 would be equipped with 4Gb of VRAM 256bit interface. The GTX 980 would be equipped with 2560 CUDA cores, 1280 TMUs texture units, 64 ROP units. The core clock is maintained at 1126 MHz core and 1216 MHz boost while the Memory clocked is around 7.00 GHz Effective which pumps out 224.4 GB/s bandwidth. If we talk about power consumption of Gtx 980 will have a maximum TDP of 165W.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Benchmark Numbers:
Those benchmarks are taken from the reference version of Gtx 980, the card was tested on several most Graphics Demanding games like Dirt 3, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, Thief 4, Batman: Arkha Origins, Bioshock Infinite,. Benchmarks also include of 3DMark 11 Extreme, 3DMark Firestrike, Heaven 4.0, LuxMark. If we see the overall performance of the reference version of Nvidia Gtx 980 it’s around 13.27% faster than the GeForce GTX 780 Ti at reference clocks, while being 15.75% faster than the Radeon R9 290X.
GM204 Core on Gtx 970 fuses 1664 CUDA Cores, 64 ROPs and 104 TMUs. The Price of Gtx 970 is just $329. The GeForce GTX 970 will be available in both reference and non-reference variants at launch, which will retail at a range of $329 to $349 US. The new GPU is expected to be 20% faster and 30% more power efficient compared to Kepler based GTX 770. Still, we don’t know about the TDP but according to the previous news it should be around 148W. If we compare it with Gtx 770, the GeForce GTX 970 Phantom Gainward raises the basic clock rate of 101 MHz and 130 MHz in boost clock.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 Benckmark Numbers:
The Gtx 970 is not the reference version, but it’s the Overclocked version of Zotac. The Zotac Gtx 970 was also tested on several games like we see above. The card is around 1.57% faster than the Radeon R9 290X and around 10% Faster then Radeon R9 290.
