As reported by the Chinese site HKEPC, Taiwanese manufacturers claim that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti, the next two Nvidia GPUs that will feature a new hashrate limiter to prevent them from being used for crypto mining, will be released on May 25 and at the beginning of June of this year, respectively.

Yesterday, a source close to the Videocardz site had sent them the photo of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU, confirming that it is the Ampere GA102-225 chip with 10240 CUDA cores, which will be accompanied by 12 GB of GDDR6X memory .

As previously reported by the same site, graphics card manufacturers have already begun shipping the new GeForce RTX 3080 Ti to distribution centers. A shipment of new MSI graphics cards is heading to Los Angeles as mentioned by Lok Lok on Facebook and, interestingly, one of the boxes also features the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Ventus 3X OC model.

Regarding the hash rate for cryptocurrency mining, it seems that the driver does not recognize the graphics card. It is possible that the sample was tested a date before Nvidia introduced its supposed cryptocurrency mining limiter, which will be present on the entire RTX 30 Series (including of course the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti) together with support for Resizable BAR already integrated.

Before this was reported to the AIBs, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti rating samples did not have the limiter. This was revealed by the German site Igor’sLAB a few days ago. It is not known which qualifying sample was tested by the leaker, nor if the hashrate is true, but it is possible that the mining performance shown in this leaked screenshot actually presents a sample that does not have a limiter for cryptocurrency in place.

According to the screenshot, this particular sample of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, would offer an Ethereum mining hash rate of 118.9 Mh / s, which is close to the performance of the RTX 3090. Still, this value was achieved after certain settings (we can see that the TDP has dropped to 278 watts and the memory clock is 21.4 Gbps). Certainly, such performance would not go unnoticed by miners, who would desperately search for this graphics card as soon as it reaches resellers, although it is unlikely to sell at the MSRP of $ 999 – or more, depending on each manufacturer’s model.  ITHome suggests the price of the RTX 3080 TI will be ¥7,999 in China, which is around $1,099 / £800 / AU$1,420.

This leak also revealed clock speeds of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, with a base clock of 1365 MHz and a boost clock of 1665 MHz. These are lower than those of the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. However, a reduction was to be expected in clock speed, since otherwise the performance of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti would be very close to the RTX 3090.
