Desktop Class GTX 980 and GTX 970 has been listed few weeks ago. After this, the GTX 960 is highly anticipated. While for  the mobile GPUs platform, NVIDIA released its Maxwell GM204 architecture flagships. Two new mobile GPUs includes GTX 980M and GTX 970M. Both GPUs are not only powerful in terms of performance, but also power efficient. We can say they are good enough to be closer to the same level of performance desktop products, greatly narrowing the performance gap between notebook and desktop platforms.

GM204 is fused on both candies. Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M (N16E-GX) is equipped with 1536 CUDA Core, 96TMU units and 64 ROP units. Memory interface is 256-bit and support 4GB/8GB GDDR5 memory. The Clock speed is 1038MHz, memory frequency is 1253MHz equal to 5012MHz. On the other hand GeForce GTX 970M is also based on GM204 core build, but the hardware specifications GTX 980M has been streamlined if we compare it with the GTX 980. The Gtx 970 is has 1280 CUDA Core, 80TMU units and 48 ROP units. Memory interface is 192-bit, support 3GB / 6GB GDDR5 memory. The Clock speed is 924MHz, memory frequency is 1253MHz equal to 5012MHz.

NVIDIA says Maxwell architecture is based on outstanding performance also energy efficient. The performance of GTX 980M / 970M products is almost close to the previous release same level of desktop platforms. The performance gap between high end mobile GPUs and desktop counterparts has been pretty high, but we are finally reaching the territory where graphic cards are at least 1080p/60fps proof with Ultra settings.
