In the latest released of Nvidia’s Graphic driver version GeForce 344.77, two new mobility graphics cards have been spotted, we are talking about NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M. Although Nvidia has not given any words on both new bad boys and this news is coming from VideoCardz. Both mobile GPUs are based on the Maxwell architecture for teams laptops.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M and GTX 960M on the track, Spotted in Latest Driver
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 965m could be a variant of silicon cut GM204, but neither could rule meets the GM206, also based on the Maxwell architecture which is the successor of GM107 GPU, now fused in the GeForce GTX 860M. As for now, re branding the 860M as 965M with better binned and slightly higher clocks will only make sense if no 960M was coming, which could easily happen. But if the 960M is coming then it has a higher probability of being a GM107 part with the GTX 965 being something else entirely.
The GeForce GTX 960M if you could make use of GM107, which is also expected of the desktop version, the GTX 960 is expected to arrive with its laptop equivalent in next January.
It also seems like Nvidia is getting ready to run the Maxwell 28nm node for a good year or two now. The ideal case would have been to move to 16nm FinFET+ before recycling a generation continuously but I guess second generation Maxwell is better than kepler any day.
