Recently, Konami made the announcement via Twitter that the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain would be available to install and load from the Steam on September 1.

But things are different here! For The Phantom Pain, you will need to load the game from Steam only, even if you try to load from a physical retail disc. That’s seems strange but one gamer who purchased an early retail disc copy of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, has reported that the dvd only contains the Steam installer.
Or in other words, the PC gamers can’t install the game from the disc, like other previous games. Means that the DVD holders will also be downloading this game via Steam, despite having a DVD. Here’s what the gamer posted:

Gamers on the social media are expressing disappointment and frustration with the Konami. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is coming tomorrow, September 1, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
