A group of fans of Metal Gear Online 2, the multiplayer portion of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, announced that it is now playable on PC through RPCS3, the PlayStation 3 emulator that surprising allows implementation of its own or third-party servers (as in this case) to preserve multiplayer modes that are no longer playable on its original console.

The official Metal Gear Online 2 servers were taken down in June 2012, and since then some fans of the multiplayer mode were not very happy with Sony’s decision, no matter how few users were playing at the time. There are ways to play it on PlayStation 3, but it requires specific firmware and other steps that not all console users are willing to do – or just don’t know.

If you have doubts or questions about the game or how to make it work (but not before watching the video tutorial above), you can enter the Discord channel of the Metal Gear Online 2 PC community.
