Many of us were waiting for the official announcement of the 8-core Intel Coffee Lake processors during Computex, but only the already leaked Core i7-8086K was announced as a special edition of its 40th Anniversary, in addition to the showcase of ‘new’ 28 cores and 56 threads CPU @5.00 GHz after performing OC and cooling it through an advanced cooling system (LN2) capable of dissipating a TDP of 1650W.

Apart from above mentioned two CPUs, not a word about dedicated 8-core Coffee Lake-S processors that will arrive to face with the Ryzen 2000 in the multi-core section, nor the new Intel Z390 motherboards, which would be required to access this new configuration of cores and threads. Now it is expected that this announcement will take place in the month of September.

These new processors could arrive with new Coffee Lake CPUs that will receive the name of Coffee Lake Refresh, while the Skylake-X family will receive new processors, being the top of the range a CPU of 22 cores and 44 processing threads, surpassing the current Intel Core i9-7980XE with 18 cores and 36 threads to directly face with AMD 2nd generation of Threadripper CPUs that will further complicate the market.
