Talking about the baseband and people always give their opinion about the powerful Qualcomm, but people forget that Intel has also great powerful strength in this area, and the development is quickly spreading in the world.
A few years ago Intel released its first 4G LTE baseband named as XMM 7160, the baseband with highest support of LTE 150Mbps, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is using it, but XMM 7160 is not implemented in any phone.
At MWC 2014, Intel released its all new Intel XMM 7260 LTE-Advanced, the first baseband to support LTE Cat.6, carrier aggregation (upto 40MHz), and the downloading speed is upto 300MBps. The Intel XMM 7260 LTE-Advanced will support over 30 3GPP Band, also integrates transceiver SMARTi 45 parts has been reduced to achieve a single-chip solution.
In terms of network standard, XMM 7260 will support LTE FDD / TDD, WCDMA / HSPA +, TD-SCDMA/TD-HSPA, EDGE (mobile machine liked), to support global roaming.
The Intel XMM 7260 will be available in the Q2 of this year, but there are possible chances that it will be in the Phone with a Morrefield Atom Z3500.
