Sony‘s PlayStation 4 exclusive game and new installment in the popular franchise, God of War turned out to be a huge success for the developers.

The game was released in April this year and managed to sell over 3 million copies just in three days of its release while more than 5 million copies were sold in the first month of its release. The game is not only successful with the physical sales unit, but also from the digital side as famous research website SuperData published a new report, showing digital revenues of some video games.

According to the report, PS4 exclusive God of War made digital revenue of more than $131 million in the month of its launch, which is way more than $56 million of Uncharted 4 and $69 million of The Witcher 3. It further stated that games focused on rich story-telling earn way more than other games because of its emphasis on the well written storyline, which most of the gamers look upon.

The game earned way more than The Witcher 3 which was released on the remaining two big platforms as well. The game is still going strong and the number is expected to rise in the coming months. Recently, Sony held its conference for quarterly earnings but didn’t mention the sales figure of the God of War.
