The Taiwanese company Gigabyte Technology has brought an unusual motherboard at Computex 2017, called Gigabyte C422-WS. This new motherboard is equipped with an Intel LGA2066 socket and compatible with the new desktop processors Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X, and with back-end CPU lines of Xeon Gold or Platinum.

The new motherboard is based on the Intel C422 chipset and equipped with a six-phase power and eight slots for DDR4 memory. The maximum amount of RAM when using the Intel Core series of chips is 128 GB, and Xeon processors will be able to cope with the 512 GB DDR4 LRDIMM (Load-Reduced DIMM). The motherboard will be powered through 24-pin ATX connector, a pair of 8-pin EPS connector, six-pin connector and a PCI-E Power.
Gigabyte C422-WS has seven PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, four of which communicate directly with the processor. To connect the storage media it provides a wide range of interfaces, including SATA Express ports, SATA 6 Gb / s ports as well as M.2 and U.2 connectors. Among other features of the Gigabyte C422-WS motherboard it is worth noting the presence of 10-gigabit network interface and 8-channel audio.
