Gigabyte has released refreshed motherboards, model GA-990X-UD3 and GA-990FXA-UD5 for the AMD FX series processors. The new models feature a better sound system, which should be of interest to gamers.
Motherboards GA-990X-UD3 R5 and GA-990FXA-UD5 R5 based on the ATX format and work with AMD FX socket AM3 + – although manufacturer in both cases applied a 10-phase power section, only the second model provides official support for top models FX-9000. Since four slots of memory allocated to support 2-channel DDR3 kits with the frequency to 2000 MHz.
Gigabyte GA-990X-UD3 R5 has seven slots for expansion cards – three PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (x16 / x8 / x4), two PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and two PCI usual. Allows you to connect two graphics cards in SLI or two / three in CrossFireX mode. AMD SB950 chipset supports six SATA connectors 6Gb / s.

The GA-990FXA CD-UD5 R5 has one available PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and PCI and five PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (x16 / x8 / x16 / x4 / x4) – can therefore no longer connect the two / three graphics cards in CrossFireX / SLI. This model also offers eight slots SATA 6Gb / s.


Boards primarily distinguished by the sound system. The manufacturer has applied here 8-channel Realtek ALC1150, which has been enhanced with an amplifier for the connectors on the rear panel and high quality capacitors Nippon Chemi-Con. It is worth noting that in the new versions have abandoned several connectors on the rear panel.
