While presenting company’s first fiscal quarter of 2017, Ubisoft confirmed that the Ghost Recon Wildlands remains the best selling game of this year so far.
According to Ubisoft, Ghost Recon Wildlands is the studio’s biggest hit of this year as the game brings a great number of sales to the company’s fiscal report. It must be considered that the sales include both digital and physical copies ordered between January and June across the world for PC and consoles. The regions include North America, Europe, Japan and Australia.
The company saw increase in sales with margin 45.2% as the sales stood at €202.1 million for the quarter. 80.4% of the sales were resulted from digital sales, with increase of up to 5.1% as compared with last year.
In regard with the platforms, PS4 holds most of the ground for the company with up to 44% of the sales portion, Xbox One taking 22% while PC holding around 21% of the portion. According to the CEO Yves Guillemot, company saw increase in the releases of this year along with the back catalog (titles not released during the period).
“Fueled by the digital segment – which saw a sharp increase in player recurring investment – as well as a strong showing from our back catalog, our sales for the first quarter of 2017-18 came in well ahead of our targets, up 45%, despite the fact that there were no major new releases during the period”
Ghost Recon Wildlands was released earlier this year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, while two expansion packs Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts were released later on. Stay tuned for more updates!
