Although AMD and NVIDIA both in this year did not come with a 20mm GPU technology, but still under the 28nm process to determine new products, GM204 core of the Second generation NVIDIA Maxwell architecture has been on the road. We already know that both Gtx 980 and Gtx 970 will be on releasing on 19 September Till now there are several benchmarks and real cards we see from different vendors like MSI, Galaxy and Zotac. According to the latest news the GTX 970 is all clear to go on 19th September, but there’s some problem came up with the GTX 980 and it might get delayed as well. Till now we see that both Gtx 980 and Gtx 970 would be equipped with 4Gb of VRAM 256bit interface. The card would be equipped with 2560 CUDA cores, 160 TMU texture units, 64 ROP units and for power dual 6pin power connector is doing the job. The reference version of GTX 970 features the new GM204 GPU equipped with 4GB Gddr5 256-Bit memory interface clocked at 1753 MHz (7.00 GHz Effective) which pumps out 224.4 GB/s bandwidth. GM204 Core on Gtx 970 fuses 1664 CUDA Cores, 32 ROPs and 138 TMUs.
After MSI, Zotac and Galaxy, now Gainward also joins this race of exposure. Obviously Gainward will bring both cards to the market also with reference and their own Phantom Series as well. First, take a look at Gainward Gtx 970 Phantom 4Gb.
Gainward GeForce GTX 970 Phantom and Gtx 980 Revealed
Gainward Gtx 970 Phantom features the new GM204 GPU equipped with 4GB Gddr5-256-Bit memory interface. Memory clock of 3500MHz which pumps out 224.4 GB/s bandwidth. GM204 Core on Gtx 970 fuses 1152MHz Core Clock and Turbo boost is up to 1304MHz. The new GPU is expected to be 20% faster and 30% more power efficient compared to Kepler based GTX 770. Still, we don’t know about the TDP but according to the previous news it should be around 148W. If we compare it with Gtx 770, the GeForce GTX 970 Phantom Gainward raises the basic clock rate of 101 MHz and 130 MHz in boost clock.
The GeForce GTX 980 from Gainward Overclocked in the base Clock to 1,127 MHz, higher than the reference version of GTX 970 but lower than the Overclocked Phantom Edition. Also the boost clock is 1,216 MHz. Compared to the GeForce GTX 780, which has 256 shaders, Gtx 980 is leading with 11% more shaders units. If we see other achievements clock speeds are much higher. An last we can say that the GeForce GTX 980 should be noticeably faster than the GeForce GTX 780 and perform almost same as Gtx 780Ti.
In terms of prices the Reference version of Gtx 970 would be around 400 euros, the GeForce GTX 980 up to 600 Euros. Still prices are not confirmed so take this news with the pinch of salt.
