Developer of Forza Horizon franchise, the Playground Games has recently decided to work on a new non-racing open world title under a new developer studio.

The word was shared by GamesIndustry.biz in its most recent blog update. The report is based upon the media talk the creative director and founder Ralph Fulton who mentioned that the team is currently working on an open-world title currently code-named as ‘Project 2’. According to him, the team is good at developing racing games but wants to prove themselves challenging with a new genre.

We feel like we’ve become pretty good at racing games over the years. We can always strive to get better but we’d love to prove ourselves in a different genre. That’s another goal of Project 2, to allow us to do that. We’re going to need to hire some very talented people with experience that we don’t have.

He also acknowledged the fact that the studio had a great business with the Forza series for over past six or seven years. He termed the franchise as “cornerstone” for his studio and clarified that they won’t be going away from the current business and will continue to work on racing games with new experience for the players.
