Epic Games’ co-op survival game Fortnite is about to get a new battle royale mode, featuring last man standing competition next week free of cost.

According to the developer studio, Battle Royale Mode will be released on September 26th as a standalone game expansion for free across all the platforms, adding some new contents such as squads, weapons, supplies and much more. The battle royale mode is influenced by the success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, though the studio will not stop working on its PvP and PvE mode.

The developer team appears to be interested in titles featuring battle royale and has promised to keep updating the original Fortnite game. “To maintain balance, we kept the PvP mode separate from the PvE mode and the new Battle Royale mode turned out to be so much fun we decided to share it with everyone to gather feedback.”

Fortnite is now available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While the Battle Royale mode will be released as a standalone expansion on September 26th.
