The companion and model for Dogmeat (one of the 12 characters) in the upcoming RPG, is a real life German Shepherd named as River, owned by Bethesda’s lead level designer Joel Burgess and it was reported before that the game’s Dogmeat cannot be killed.

The latest blog post from reveals the actual story behind immortality of the Dogmeat and the post says,

In Fallout 4, Dogmeat cannot die. Which is great news for all those players who would reload a previous save anytime their cherished canine met an untimely demise in Fallout 3. Dogmeat is just one of around a dozen companions in Fallout 4, including Mister Handy, Piper and Preston Garvey.

According to Todd Howard, the Game Director, the River (real-life German Shepherd) used to visit the game studio ‘quite often’. Bethesda also released a video where River was performing and audio capture titled as ‘Behind The Scenes with Dogmeat”, which can be seen below:

The Fallout 4 is scheduled for release on November 10, 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
