During the launch of Fallout 4, Bethesda announced that both the consoles i.e, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be getting support for the mod. Modding the game is always amazing and the support for mods are available for many games on the PC.
Fallout 4 was the first game getting mod support on the PlayStation 4, for which the PS4 gamers were eagerly waiting. Unfortunately, it seems that support for the mod won’t be coming for the PS4 gamers due to the refusal of Sony.
According to the Bethesda, the studio was in discussion with the Sony for many months, seeking its approval while the company refused. Bethesda’s blog post mentions that the studio is disappointed by Sony’s decision, despite given considerable time, yet it refused to give mod support for the Fallout 4 and upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.
Here’s the official statement from Bethesda, indicating that the mod support may be possible for the PS4 gamers if Sony approves full mod support,
After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.
Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.
As of now, only PC and Xbox One version of Fallout 4 is supported with the mods. Recently, Bethesda released the final DLC for the Fallout 4 called as Nuka World, which takes players to a trip to a big amusement park and park zones and some new features. Stay tuned for more updates!
