After the successful launch of Dead Island in 2011, developers confirmed the sequel of the game, Dead Island 2 back in 2014 using Unreal Engine 4 and YAGER being the developer.

However, things changed after a few months and the Deep Silver Studios announced that Sumo Digital will take the charge of game’s development in 2016 and since then, we haven’t heard much about the game. Most of us were wondering whether the game will be released or developers have a second thought in their minds regarding the sequel.

Fortunately, it seems that the Dead Island 2 was not abandoned at all and the game is still under development. The word was confirmed by official Twitter account of Dead Island, who confirmed the game’s development while responding to one of the follower’s question. It was stated that the game is under development and more information will be revealed when they feel that they are “ready”.

When the game was announced, it was reported that the game will be featuring ‘seamless multiplayer experience’ for a number of players who will compete, co-operate or exist in a game setting have explore the world for their survival.

The original Dead Island was developed by Techland, the studio behind Dying Light franchise and no doubt, the Dying Light also turned out to be a huge success for the developers.

Dead Island was released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and was re-released for PS4 and the Xbox One with improved visuals. Stay tuned for more updates!
