Prior to the new Cyberpunk 2077 delay, which will now be released on December 10, CD Projekt RED had previously announced that only Nvidia GPUs would be able to use real-time ray tracing effects in Cyberpunk 2077 at the time of release. Of course, this was before AMD announced its new RX 6000 Series GPUs, which will also have support for Ray tracing via the DXR API, and Cyberpunk 2077 is included among those games.

Nvidia, however, takes the lead in the title of CD Projekt RED due to DLSS 2.0, which will be able to compensate for the loss of performance when activating ray tracing, while the supersampling technology announced by AMD, at the moment has no date for its release and will also not be available when the RX 6000 launches on November 18.

Cyberpunk 2077 will use the DXR API and will work on all DXR-compatible GPUs.

“Cyberpunk 2077 uses the industry standard DirectX Ray Tracing API. It will work on any DXR compatible GPU. Nothing related to Cyberpunk 2077 ray tracing is the property of NVIDIA.
