Microsoft’s Windows 10 Store has not been well received by PC users and the reason is quite simple, forcing them to buy titles like Forza Horion 3, Recore and Gears of War 4 from Windows 10 Store only. However, those who have purchased or plan to purchase non-exclusive titles from Universal Windows Platform (UWP) like Rise of the Tomb Raider and now Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare / Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered will not enjoy the benefits of their Steam counterpart, such as support for Multi-GPU among other things. Most important things in this case is that users of Steam and Windows 10 will not longer play together the new Call of Duty and the classic remastered version of Infinity Ward.

In short, those who purchase the game on Steam, can only play with people who have the game on Steam. The same applies to those who purchase the game from the Windows 10 Store. We remind you that Microsoft does not have a good refund policy.

There is still no logic or clear explanation of this case, but the obvious recommendation is to buy it on Steam. You can read more about it on the support page for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
