Today Activision released the official statement that, on PS3 and Xbox 360 there will be not a campaign / story mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Thus, the game in its version for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360  “only” provide access to its multiplayer mode next to the Zombies. If you want to play story mode, you have to play game with the PC, PS4 or Xbox One version.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – No Campaign Mode on PS3 and Xbox 360

“The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign,” reads the official statement.

“The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”

As you read above, the company blames the weak console hardware to provide campaign mode, obviously this is an excuse, the answer lies in reducing costs. Interestingly, Treyarch is only developing next-generation versions of Black Ops 3, while Activision hired Beenox and Mercenary Technology to develop the port to receive the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a truly next-generation experience designed from day one to harness the full potential of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Black Ops 3 pushes the boundaries of the franchise to new levels across all modes of play on next generation hardware.”

Despite not having the campaign mode, there will be a cost reduction of $ 10 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Black Ops 3 is slated to release on November 6, 2015 across current and last-gen consoles and PC.
