Call of Duty Black Ops 3 was released in November last year and managed to claim the spot of top selling game of the year 2015. The game also broke several records such as the best selling game of the month of November and then December while according to the publisher Activision, sales of Black Ops 3 outperformed the sales of previous games in the series.

Recently, while announcing the earnings of the second quarter of the fiscal year, publisher Activision discussed about the market performance of its games, including Call of Duty Black Ops 3. According to the publisher, the game “continues to be the top-selling current-gen game.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 might not be liked by many gamers due to its setting in a futuristic world, battle with the most advanced weapons and equipments, just like recent installments in the series. Yet, it managed to be the top selling game of this generation, outselling the recent Call of Duty Advanced Warfare in the terms of total sales, in-game purchases, active users.

It was also reported that the Call of Duty franchise continues to be profitable for the publisher as it generated more revenue during the first half of 2016 as compared with the same period last year. It also noted increase in the number of people purchasing in-game content. While the studio also announced that there will be increase in the number of pre-orders of Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare with the expensive versions of the game i.e., Legacy edition that includes the Infinite Warfare as well as the remastered version all time classic, Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
