A few days ago, Crowbar Collective had put a counter on the site of Black Mesa, suggesting great news for this mod that even after several years in development, fails to reach its final stage.

The Early Access Program will provide the team Crowbar Collective resources to complete the final chapter of Xen the way they had imagined at the outset, with substantial changes in both the visually and in gameplay.

Although the mod will remain free and Collective Crowbar not prevent other sites distribute it, the developer group and distribute it on their official site or offer new updates for the mod.

Besides being able to play 85% of the Half-Life story mode (until Chapter, Lambda Core), the paid version of Black Mesa will have the following characteristics with respect to the free version:

  • New visual changes, new voices and improved gameplay
  • Multiplayer: Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch maps in six classic Half-Life (Bounce, Gasworks, Lambdabunker, Stalkyard, Subtransit and Undertow) recreated using the Source engine.
  • A complete soundtrack
  • Dedicated Servers
  • Source graphics engine pushed to the limit.
  • Tools for custom modding
  • Full integration with Steam and Steam Workshop

Black Mesa can be purchased on Steam for $ s 20 during their Early Access, while the final version will cost you $25.
