After the teaser trailer during the EA Play conference on Saturday, BioWare took its place at the closing of the Xbox conference to present the spectacular gameplay trailer of Anthem, the new franchise that promises to take the place of honor that left the original trilogy from Mass Effect.

Anthem Official E3 2017 Gameplay Video

While the material seems to be taken from a demo of the game, the announcement made it clear that they were not going to put their hands on the fire from what was seen on the screen. The reality is that this seems more a render built with the engine and many scripts to make it look like people are playing.

But beyond all, the demo shows the universe in which Anthem will pass. A world where cyber robots are a thing of everyday life and some characters have specialized in using Exotics called Javelins, which provide unique abilities to explore this vast territory.

From what can be deduced, Anthem will incorporate an MMO style system like Destiny, where we will be able to enter and exit shared missions inside the huge map. The flight mechanics allows a quick exploration to avoid the dead times between the combats and the collection of resources, and also we could see that there will be different styles of suits that will change the characteristics of each player. According to the story of the presentation, each costume can be customized to taste, so the experience will be unique to each hero.

Anthem is the official name for “Dylan,” a Bioware project that has been in development for several years. In an earnings call in May, EA CEO Andrew Wilson described the then unnamed project as “stunning.”

“Gameplay mechanics are excellent,” said Wilson, “and the action will be exhilarating. The game is built around a live service, and through our creative process, we’ve decided to add more to the disruptive new social designs for our players. To accommodate that, we are moving the launch date for this project into fiscal year ’19.”

The closest thing to a release date we have is that it will arrive sometime next year.
