Lisa Su, CEO of AMD in an interview revealed a lot of information about company’s plan for 2020. This year AMD will focus on offering high-performance solutions, and this translates into new processors for PCs, data centers, and of course, new High performance graphics cards geared towards the most demanding users.


AMD has invested a lot in its Zen CPU architecture, its RDNA graphic architecture, and the 7nm manufacturing process that will now arrive in an improved version: 7nm + / 7nm EUV.

All this will lead to the Zen3 architecture, the long-awaited and rumored Big Navi GPU, and RDNA2 graphic architecture that will give life to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with RayTracing.

What is the biggest market opportunity that AMD and channel partners will face together in 2020?

The surge in the number of connected devices and the widespread use of intelligence have driven continued demand for computing power. High-performance computing is required for analysis and final decision based on all data, which is not only suitable for large enterprises, but also for small and medium enterprises. As a result, we see huge business opportunities and will work with channel partners to provide data center and business computer solutions to drive the widespread application of high-performance computing in the industry ecosystem.

In 2020, what kind of technology investment will AMD focus on?

According to AMD’s product roadmap, our technology research and development needs to be three to five years ahead of time. The focus of AMD lies in the continuous pursuit of technological breakthroughs in high-performance CPUs and high-performance GPUs. For AMD, 2020 is exciting as we focus on bringing new high-performance solutions to the PC, gaming and data center markets. We have invested heavily in Zen-based CPU roadmaps, new RDNA graphics architectures, and state-of-the-art 7nm manufacturing processes to achieve industry-leading performance, power consumption, and total cost of ownership.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing customers in 2020?

The technology industry is vibrant. In a resource-constrained environment, as computing needs grow, CIOs and product decision makers need to choose the best technology. With our EPYC data center solutions, Ryzen PC products and new Radeon GPUs, we provide our customers with a powerful multi-generation product roadmap to meet their needs. AMD has always had a strong execution and helped customers succeed through deep partnerships.
