The AMD Site has placed a new link wherein they’ll publish the complete list of Graphics Cards which support Freesync. All of AMD Radeon HD 7000, Radeon HD 8000 series, R7 and R9 will support FreeSync for video playback and energy saving purposes.

Only AMD Radeon GPUs R9 295X2, 290x, 290 R9, R7 and R7 260 260X will support additional feature which is updated display controller that will support dynamic refresh rates during gaming.

Note that the AMD APUs codenamed Kaveri, Kabini,Temash, Beema and Mullins also needed hardware capabilities to enable dynamic refresh for video playback, gameplay and energy savings. All those APUs must be connected to a monitor that supports DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync technology.

AMD also mentioned that the software architecture of some games are not compatible with the technologies such as FreeSync. In these instances, users can select the activation of such technology in the AMD Catalyst driver.

For those who are not aware of this technology, AMD FreeSync eliminates the breaking screen image or Screen Tearing and annoying blinking image synchronization. The FreeSync / Adaptive Sync protocol will be embedded with DisplayPort 1.2a. Monitor manufacturers have absolute freedom to add this fearute port or not.
