A faithful site Videocardz discovered the existence of the new AMD’s Chip Tonga GPUs are coming soon. Tonga is actually a Tahiti replacement. The first Tonga cards would be Radeon M295X and M290X both are High End mobile graphics processors from AMD Side and will directly compete with GTX880m. Tonga on the other hand is based on the latest architecture Hawaii/Bonaire for better energy efficiency.
According the leaked specifications the M295X would be equip with 32 Compute Units, 2048 SP, 128 TMU and 32 ROP. The chip is clocked at 800 MHz with VRM of 4Gb GDDR5 on a 256-bit wide memory bus. We still don’t know about the 8Gb variant, but news about 8Gb VRAM are also in the air. Meanwhile boost up to 1375 MHz for the memory bandwidth of 176 GB/s. A serious competitor to the GTX 880M? Check this out:
According to our colleagues, the chip Tonga would settle into a desktop graphics card named as R9 275X.
Finally, the presence of R9 M295X for the mobile Graphic world makes us to say that AMD is preparing its equivalent in the desktop nomenclature: The R9 295x. Few more MHz for the GPU and the memory of history come tickle the GTX 780 Ti. See you in a few days, weeks or months verify these claims.
