While NVIDIA is dominating the enthusiast segment with high and mid-range graphics cards (GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and GTX 1060), AMD would have decided to make changes to its roadmap that directly related to its new graphics architecture VEGA, and thus the launch of its first high – end graphics card, the Radeon RX 490. The new graphics architecture will be more powerful and efficient in comparison with Polaris and it will be attached to the fastest memory on the market, the HBM2.
AMD Radeon RX 490 (AMD VEGA) would be launched in October
Rumors about the progress of new graphics card arrives from Chris Hook, global director of marketing and public relations of the Radeon Technologies Group. He has posted a picture on his Facebook account which seems to be an old warehouse building or accompanied by a text saying “This is the Vega launch venue. Shh, don’t tell the press…...“. The upcoming event looks like it will be hosted in a run down industrial building! It looks cool, but also makes you wonder what AMD is going after with the upcoming launch.
It is well known that AMD has a good relationship with the guys from DICE and its star game, Battlefield. So there are reports that there would be a joint event to be held in October in which AMD would present Radeon RX 490 demo of running Battlefield 1. If we consider the release date of the new Battlefield, we are talking about October 21.
