Earlier there was a news that AMD will release a new video card, which uses “Tonga” core, eventually named as Radeon R9 285.
Today, foreign media Videocardz has exposed a group of R9 285 Graphics Cards rendering from the different vendors, which means that the card’s design has been completely finalized, would be officially released.

Unfortunately, the card’s specifications to now is still a mystery, said the foreign media can be confirmed only 256bit memory interface and 2GB GDDR5 memory. In pictures of R9 285 from different vendors, we can see one thing similar that all are featuring XDMA CrossFire Technology and others, such as 918MHz core clock, 5500MHz memory frequency equivalent guess and other specifications are yet to be confirmed.
It will be the greatest improvement from the AMD side as Tonga GPU is the less power eater, Mantle API must be supported, and there are also some features including new PowerTune Boost dynamic acceleration and TrueAudio technology, in addition there may be support of XDMA crossfire. It will replace the existing one core Pitcairn / Curacao to compete with NVIDIA’s GM107.
